BRIDGEWATER – The second game on the docket at the Bridgewater Ice Arena on the second day of play at the 2018 Jr. Chowder Cup saw the Coastal Clippers Brigantines doubling up King’s Hockey Development 4-2 in ’03 division play.
King’s grabbed the game’s first lead on a goal by Gibson Duhe 3:53 after the opening faceoff, but things went largely in the favor of the Brigantines from that point on.
A pair of goals by Jack Irwin – scores coming at 6:53 and 9:43 of the first half – put Coastal up 2-1. Andrew Ryan notched a power play goal in the opening minute of the second half to make it 3-1. Irwin then completed his hat trick at 13:10 on an unassisted tally that staked the Brigantines a 4-1 lead.
Duhe was back on the score sheet with his second of the game for the King’s at 20:35 of the second half, but the deficit never went lower than two through the game’s conclusion.
Irwin (3G) and Duhe (2G) were credited as the game’s only multipoint scorers, while Patrick Green was credited with the win in net for the Brigantines.
