CANTON – The final New England Pro-Am Hockey tournament of the summer – the 2025 Jr. Chowder Cup – got underway Thursday morning. The first match on the tournament’s scoreboard was a 2009 division tilt between Between the Bucket (Black ‘09) and FCA Hockey’s 2009 squad. The contest went down as a 4-0 decision in favor of Between the Bucket at the Canton Ice House.
It might have been a comfortable margin in the end, but it was not that way throughout. Bucket grabbed the early lead on a Rory McNally score less than three minutes into the game, but that was all the offense to be had until Xavier Couturier made it 2-0 at 17:28 of the first.
The score remained a slim 2-0 advantage in favor of Between the Bucket through the remainder of the first and the majority of the second half. It was not until the closing minute of the contest Bucket was able to put the game away on a pair of empty-net tallies by Nikolas Davalos at 24:06 and 24:39 to solidify the 4-0 victory.
Christian Ferullo was credited with the shutout in the Between the Bucket net.
