FOXBORO – The Canada West ’06 squad opened New England Pro-Am Hockey’s 2021 Jr. Chowder Cup with a victory on Thursday morning at the Foxboro Sports Center. They held off Coaches Choice South for the 4-3 win.
Canada West got things going early in the first with goals by Jack Johnson and Gino Larusso to give their side a 2-0 advantage that lasted until the break.
They went on to double that lead to 4-0 on scores by Calvin Ruggiero and Alex Gorley to start the second, but then the Coaches Choice offense joined the scoresheet.
Coaches Choice put up three straight scores to cut their deficit from four to one. There was one each from Nathan Desrosiers, Seb Savage and Zach Holeschek, but that was as far as any comeback came.
Netminder Zachary White, who came on in relief of Matt Hurley to start the second half, closed the door between the CWE pipes to preserve the 4-3 victory.
