CWE takes Jr. CC’s opening tilt with shutout win.

FOXBORO – The final New England Pro-Am Hockey tournament of the summer – the 2024 Jr. Chowder Cup – got underway Thursday morning. The first match on this year’s slate was a 2008 division tilt between CWE (Grey) and the South Shore Kings (Georgantas), which CWE claimed by virtue of a 7-0 shutout victory at the Foxboro Sports Center.

While CWE did enough scoring in the first to secure their victory in closing out the first 25-minutes with a 2-0 lead, most of the scoring action came in the second. CWE rung up five in the game’s latter frame to finalize the 7-0 decision.

All seven of the game’s scores came from a different goal scorer. CWE’s Xavier Painton finished as the game’s only multiple point getter, credited with two assists.

Goaltender Hugo-Pier Ferland led the charge from the CWE net, credited with the complete game shutout.
