ATTLEBORO – It was an even draw for the US Express and NH Knights to start off the 2024 Junior Chowder Cup. The two sides played to a 3-3 decision on Thursday afternoon in 2009 division play.
It was a tale of two halves in the contest, each side claiming a frame to bring about the 3-3- final.
The Knights took the first. William Gosselin, Alex May and Tushaar Anathy each scoring to set the stage.
It was a stage not for a Knights’ ride to victory, but rather for an Express second half rally. One that came in dramatic fashion.
Lucas Gilooly got the ball rolling on the Express comeback with a goal early in the second. Evan Pierce made it a one-goal game at 3-2 with just over a minute remaining. As time was winding down, Charles Bailey netted the buzzer-beater to completed the Express comeback and bring about the 3-3 decision.
