FOXBORO – They took their hits right out of the gate, but Top Shelf Gold ended up cruising to victory on Saturday at the Foxboro Sports Center. They defeated the Colorado Jr. Dawgs 8-3 in ’06 division play.
Colorado came out of the gate hot, a pair of goals about 30-seconds apart about two minutes in to stake themselves a 2-0 lead. The scores coming from Chris Bruder and Thomas Prendergast.
Top Shelf rallied for two to get the game back to even at the intermission and it was in the second half their offense took off.
Prendergast notched his second of the game early in the second to put the Dawgs back on top at 3-2. A minute later, the game belonged to Top Shelf.
Niko Tournas’ goal at 2:21 of the second started a six-goal run as Top Shelf scored their first win of the 2021 Jr. Chowder Cup, 8-3. It was one of the four goals Tournas scored in the contest, which he coupled with a pair of assists for a six-point showing.
Cole Mollica (1G, 3A) had an equally impressive four-points for Top Shelf, while Gennaro Pompano (1G, 2A) also had multiple points in the victory.
