FL Hockey remains perfect in ’03 Division.

CANTON – In their third game, on the third day at the 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup, FL Hockey ’03 recorded their third win of the tournament. They defeated Team Kanaly 6-2 on Saturday at the Canton Ice House.

The contest was deadlocked at 0-0 through much of the first half, until its final six minutes. Over those final minutes, Florida forward Patrick Saini buried a pair of scores, which – coupled with a first half shutout by netminder Sebastian Resar – gave his side a 2-0 advantage at the intermission.

Scoring started quickly when the teams returned to the ice as Florida was looking to extend their lead and Kanaly was looking to cut into their deficit. A power play goal from Nick Dowling extended things to 3-0 just 44-seconds into the half, but a score from William DiStefano just 22-seconds after that had Kanaly on the board and back to within two.

With no intentions of letting their quest for a perfect record be thwarted, Florida re-upped their lead again, netting another pair to make it 5-1. A power play goal by Jack Thomas at 16:06 had Kanaly cutting into their deficit once again, but the punctuation in the game was to belong to Florida. They got the last goal of the contest curtesy of Saini – who completed his hattrick at 23:57 – as the score settled at its 6-2 final.

Saini’s hattrick was accompanied by an assist for a four-point showing and was backup up by a three-point performance from teammate Matt Gagnon, who finished with a goal and two assists.
