Kings explode past Whalers, 7-1

Five-goal second fuels TSC King’s opening win.

FOXBORO – The TSC Kings burst onto the scene at the 2015 Junior Chowder Cup as they opened their 2000 division schedule with a 7-1 win over the Boston Jr. Whalers Orange on Thursday at Foxboro Sports Center.

Kings pivot Jordan Skahill bookend the opening half with a goal in the first and last minute of play. The Whalers were left in a hole as the game moved into the second half, but the deficit was still a manageable one at 2-0.

In just a matter of minutes, however, that manageable deficit went the wrong direction for Boston. A goal by Gabe Longshore at 7:16 started a 3:30 stretch in which Longshore scored twice and Skahill completed his hat trick to give TSC a 5-0 advantage.

The Kings lead eventually grew to 7-0 later in the half, a goal each coming from Jackson Wozniak and Easton Easterson, before the Whalers came through to break up netminder Mattias Sholl’s shutout. Jacob Lanyi scoring at 23:30 of the second half to bring the score to its 7-1 final.

Five different Kings were credited with multiple points in the contest, Skahill chief among them with his three-goal performance. The centerman’s hat trick was followed up by Longshore’s pair and a pair of assists from each Wyatt Wong and Drake Usher. Wozniak was the only player in the game to touch both columns on the score sheet, credited with a goal and an assist.
