More than 20 years after his first arrival in the region, former Boston Bruins goaltender Byron Dafoe will be returning to the northeast this coming summer as coach for the Canada West Elite Red ’02 at the 2018 Junior Chowder Cup.
Dafoe first arrived in Boston for the 1997-1998 season via trade to the Bruins from the Los Angeles Kings. The netminder posted 132 wins over his five season with the Bruins and was named second team all NHL following the 1998-1999 season, in which he posted a career best goals against average of 1.99. Over his 12-year NHL career, Dafoe appeared in 415 games (399 stats) for the Bruins, Kings, Washington Capitals and Atlanta Thrashers, posting a 171-170-56 record with a 2.69 GAA and .904 save percentage.
