CANTON – The Buffalo Nickels came to play in their opener of the 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup. They nailed down their first victory of the weekend by shutting out the PAL Islanders 4-0 at the Canton Ice House.
A Nicholas Botzenhart goal at 1:50 of the first half put Buffalo in the lead and they never looked back.
Twice more in the first they scored for the 3-0 cushion at the break and then a Carson Kania goal at 15:39 of the second half closed out the scoring of the 4-0 triumph.
Lawton Zacher of the Nichols School 16U squad was credited with backstopping the win for the Buffalo Nickels net.
