FOXBORO – After shutout wins over the Nighthawks Hockey Club on Thursday and PHG AAA on Friday, the HSD Pirates completed a perfect preliminary round in the 2009 division of the 2024 Jr. Chowder Cup on Saturday morning. Their 3-0-0 record finalized with a 4-1 win over Evolution Summer Selects at the Foxboro Sports Center.
HSD had made mostly easy work of their opponents through the early games of the tournament, but Saturday’s was a tighter contest. The Pirates escaped the first half with just a 1-0 lead on a Jacob Saumure goal.
Evolution got on the board in the second with an Owen Dorsey goal, the first of the tournament scored against the Pirates goaltending battery of Cadence Battista and Caleb Fredette. It was but a blip on the radar amongst the three in the frame scored by HSD to close out their decisive 4-1 victory.
