BRIDGEWATER – Special teams was the focus when Michigan Elite and Team Kanaly met for their ’06 division matchup on Friday at the Bridgewater Ice Arena. Four of the six combined goals scored in the contest coming when one side had the man advantage. The end result had Kanaly as the most special, as they came away with the 4-2 win.
Kanaly’s power play took center stage in the first half, striking twice in three opportunities. Kevin Koles and Luke Perfido with the tallies. Marek Alent scored late in the frame for Michigan to send the game to halftime at a score of 2-1 in favor of Kanaly.
Michigan Elite struck first in the second half, Sean McLaren tying the game at 2-2 in the period’s 14th minute. Kanaly’s special teams went back to work late in the frame to once again take control of the game.
It was the power play up first, Ryan Suchy striking for the third score with the man advantage, re-establishing the one-goal advantage. Nick Denike then closed things out with a shorthanded goal for Kanaly at 23:43 to solidify the 4-2 victory.
