FOXBORO – The Cape Cod Whalers announced their presence at the 2021 Jr. Chowder Cup with authority on Thursday afternoon at the Foxboro Sports Center. They opened their slate with a 7-4 defeat of Coaches Choice Elite in ’05 division play.
It looked as though it might be a move even final score through the first period. Each team netted a pair to send things to the locker room tied 2-2. While Coaches Choice continued their trend and doubled their offense in the second half, the Whalers went on to more than triple theirs to take the commanding lead and victory.
A total of four Whalers had multiple points in the contest, led by three from Ben Jarosz (1G, 2A). Gates Omicoli (2G), Henry Butte (1G, 1A) and Christian Maro (1G, 1A) also had multiple points in the affair, while Colby LaSalle was credited with the victory in the Cape Cod net.
For Coaches Choice, each tally came from a different scorer as Nolan Cole, Saxton Tess, Lawson Sorokan and Brady Huang were all credited with a goal.
