Whalers push past Edge in second, 7-5.

CANTON – A second half rally pushed the Boston Jr. Whalers to a 7-5victory on Friday morning when they squared off against Edge Hockey Skills at the Canton Ice House in the 2009 division of the 2024 Jr. Chowder Cup.

The game started with Edge rushing out to a 3-0 lead early. Goals from Fred Alberts, Cole Dolan and Ryan Paul giving Edge the early advantage before the opening period had even reached its midway point.

Owen Hervey got the Whalers the board before the first half’s conclusion. They then got back to even on goals by Jordan Sousa and Karl Warren to start the second.

The 3-3 tie became a 5-5 tie as the second period wore on until late in the frame when Boston began to push away from their foe.

Christian Stasko gave Boston the lead at 22:31 of the second and then Sousa iced it just before the final buzzer. The Whalers forward’s second of the game bringing about the 7-5 final with just 13-seconds remaining on the game clock.
