Falcons start Day 3 with 3-2 win.

CANTON – The third and final day of pool play at New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2017 Jr. Chowder Cup is underway. First on the day’s docket at the Canton Ice House was a ’01 Division match between Coaches Choice and the Montreal Falcons. A match that ended 3-2 in favor of the Falcons.

Both teams needed a win in order to advance to Sunday’s playoff round. Coaches Choice struck first in that pursuit, a goal from Harrison Haber coming 6:09 into the contest.

The Falcons rallied, had their deficit decimated and had a lead of their own by the half’s end,, however. Ben Gledhow with the equalizer at 14:51 and then Alexandre Sevigny with the go-ahead at 22:51.

They extended that lead to 3-1 when Montreal winger Christopher Duchesne added to the goal total at 14:30. There was, however, plenty of time remaining for a Choice comeback.

Amidst a press to turn the game around in the final minutes, Nolan Murphy cut his side’s deficit to one with an unassisted score at 23:05 to make it 3-2. That, however, was as far as any rally bid by Coaches Choice came.

Gledhow was the game’s lone multipoint scorer with a goal and an assist to his credit, while Trevor Cooper manned the net and took the win for the Falcons.
