CANTON – It was an even 4-4 tie for Coaches Choice and the Steel when the two met on Saturday morning at the Canton Ice House in 2007 Elite division play at the 2023 Jr. Chowder Cup.
Things were tight early as Coaches Choice’s Thano Meimaris and the Steel’s Emmit Porter each traded a pair of goals for a 2-2 score about midway through the opening frame.
It did not stay tied throughout the half, however, as Ryan Racine and Mark Rosa each scored a goal to give the Steel a little cushion and a 4-2 advantage at the intermission.
Out of the break, the Steel offense cooled while Coaches Choice still had some pop left. Michael Battista and Lucas Marshall each netted a goal to get Coaches Choice back to even and knot the game up at its 4-4 final.
