Maroon take bracket with comfortable win.

FOXBORO – It was an anticipated ’07 Elite matchup when Maroon Hockey and Rapid Hockey Development met on the ice at the Foxboro Sports Center on Saturday morning. Top place in their bracket was on the line as both teams entered 2-0-0. Advancement was the prize and Maroon Hockey took it handedly, defeating Rapid Hockey by a margin of 8-1.

A shorthanded goal by William Moore got things going. It was a 1-0 Maroon lead that grew to 4-0 as a pair of goals from Cameron Reid and one from Jeremy Martin were added to the scoresheet. Drew Hayden stemmed the tide with a goal that put Rapid Hockey on the board and sent the game to the half at 4-1.

Hayden’s tally was the lone bright spot on Rapid’s side of the scoresheet. Maroon, however, was far from done as they struck for another four in the game’s second half. Another from Moore and Martin, and individual goals from Matheas Stark and Cole Emerton rounded out the 8-1 assault.

It was also the third win of the tournament for Maroon goaltender Jack Ivankovic, who has given up just one goal in each of his three starts.
