Battalion Blue runs away from Rice in the second.

DEDHAM – A slow start turned into a torrid finish for Elite Battalion Blue on Saturday at the Boch Ice Center. Their offense awoke for five goals in the second to secure a 5-2 win over the Rice Prep Knights.

The game’s score was in support of Rice in the first. Their offense struck for a pair – Frederick Vogel at 13:08 and Robert Murray at 15:12 – while Connor Dalley kept the other side of the score column clean, turning away all shots as he stood in the Knights’ net. It was 2-0 Rice at halftime.

Battalion got to work quickly out of the break, however, to turn the game in their favor. Evan Brown broke the scoring seal at 1:11 of the second half. A shorthanded goal by Owen Sweet at 6:17 evened the score at 2-2. Nicolas Haviar then gave the Battalion the lead for good at 11:36 of the second half.

The lead was theirs, but the Battalion still added another pair for good measure to finalize the 5-2 score.

Sweet led all scorers in the game with a goal and two assists. Two points apiece went to Batalion teammates Haviar (1G, 1A) and Gary Claps (2A).

Murray had a goal and an assist leading the Knights effort.
