Big results for Northstars against Jumbos.

CANTON – The Northstars Hockey Club made it a perfect 2-for-2 start to the 2018 Jr. Chowder Cup as they defeated the Jr. Jumbos 10-2 in a midday contest at the Canton Ice House on Friday.

Relentless was the Northstar offense on their path to victory. Patrick Gray started the assault at 2:56 and Hunter Dunn grew the lead to 2-0 at 5:14.

An unassisted goal by Kyle Melo made it 2-1 at 8:12 of the first half, but it was the lone score in the frame for the Jumbos, while their foe went on to score three more in that time.

The Jumbos had the first goal of the second half at 13:44, making it 5-2, but the Northstars restored their four-goal advantage less than two minutes later. It was their first of five unanswered goals scored in the second half.

Matt Lombardi was credited as the game’s highest scoring skater, notching a goal and three assists for the Northstars. Gray (1G, 2A), Dunn (1G, 1A), Zak Kapusta (2G) and Ryan Gardula (2A) were also credited with multipoint showings in the win.
