FOXBORO – The final New England Pro-Am Hockey tournament of the summer season got underway Thursday morning with the 2022 Jr. Chowder Cup. The first match on this year’s slate was an ’06 division tilt between Coaches Choice and the South Shore Kings, which went in favor of the Kings 4-3.
South Shore took early steps on their march to victory, scoring twice in the opening frame for a 2-0 halftime lead. Joe Butler was responsible for both the goals in the first, one of which came shorthanded.
That two-goal lead became vital for the Kings as the two sides traded goals back-and-forth in the second half. Coaches Choice started the scoring with a Gino Evangelous goal in the opening minutes and he was joined on the scoresheet by a pair of tallies from Adam Lukwinski.
Goals from Aiden Collins and Sean McGee in the second gave the Kings just enough to keep themselves in front of their foe and allowed them to hold on for the 4-3 victory.
