FOXBORO – NorthStar Elite (Green ’08) used a strong start to the game to fuel their strong start to the tournament on Thursday morning, defeating DevCo Hockey in their first 2008 division game of the 2024 Jr. Chowder Cup.
Little time was wasted by NorthStar in beginning their quest to victory. Austin Brekelmans scored the game’s first goal 2:29 after the opening face-off.
It was a goal that kicked off a NorthStar assault that saw them take a 3-0 halftime lead.
It was a lead that grew to 4-0 on a Blake Barnes goal at 8:30 of the second half.
Niko Julian put DevCo on the board and broke up Hudson Smith’s bid at a shutout just past the midway point of the second half. It was the only blemish to Smith’s stat line as the NorthStar netminder returned to form, turning aside everything else faced to close out the 4-1 victory.
Carson Morkotinis finished as the game’s leading point scorer, credited with a pair of assists.
