CANTON – Evolve Hockey could not have asked for a much better start to their stay at the 2023 Jr. Chowder Cup. They opened up their 2008 Elite division slate with a 7-1 defeat of DevCo Hockey on Thursday morning at the Canton Ice House.
Things got going early for Evolve as they lept onto the scoresheet in the opening minutes of the game and did not look back in their quest for victory. They struck first, made it a two-goal lead and then ended the first leading 3-1.
Out of the halftime intermission, Evolve struck for four more while netminder Giovanni Scally – credited with the win – shutdown DevCo in the second to solidify the 7-1 victory.
While Scally anchored the backend for Evolve, Rocco Afonso (3G) and Hugo Charron (1G, 2A) anchored the front end, netting three points apiece to lead the offense.
Julian Davis was credited with the lone DevCo goal.
