Eels National starts strong at Jr. Chowder Cup.

ATTLEBORO – Eels National opened up their stay at the 2023 Jr. Chowder Cup with an 8-5, 2007 division win over Roc City Elite (Black) on Thursday morning at the New England Sports Village.

It was a tight contest in the first as the two sides traded goals back-and-forth before the opening frame came to a close with the Eels leading 3-2.

The pattern then continued throughout much of the second as the Eels were never able to fully break away from their foe until late.

Just when it seemed the Eels could be comfortable with their lead, Tyler Bertelsen netted his second of the frame with just over two minutes remaining to cut Roc City’s deficit to 7-5. It was not until an empty net goal by Joachim Neverdal in the closing minute that the Eels’ victory was solidified.

Five different Eels finished the game with multiple entries on the scoresheet. Garrett Sager (3G) and Jason Radu (3A) each had three points in leading the victorious offense, while Veverdal (2G), Christopher Zwirblia (1G, 1A) and Fred Ringblom (1G, 1A) each went for two.
