ATTLEBORO – The RI Rebels kicked off their 2023 Jr. Chowder Cup with a 3-0 shutout victory over the Long Island Arrows on Thursday morning in 2007 division play at the New England Sports Village.
All the scoring action came in the game’s first half as the Rebels netted three to put their competition away. Jack Wernig, Sean Pohl and Joey Von Handorf were credited with the Rhode Island goals.
The Rebels had done their offensive damage in the first, so it was up to their defensive end in the second to hunker down and preserve the victory. Netminder Angelo Evangelista led the charge to close out the 3-0 shutout victory.
