It is a rout for Jr. Whalers in their JCC opener.

ATTELBORO – In the first game of New England Pro Am Hockey’s 2019 Bob Crocker Jr. Chowder Cup to be started at the New England Sports Village, the Boston Jr. Whalers Green laid a heavy beating – 11-1 – on the Tropics in 2003 Division play.

The Whalers wasted little time to begin their assault, scoring their first just 2:01 into the game and then hammering away throughout as they amassed a 7-0 lead. A hat trick for Nico Castracani, two for Chris Conroy and one each for Rylan Yates and Jaden Lipinski accounted for the lead.

After another goal by Yates to start the second made it 8-0, the Tropics were able to stem the attack on an unassisted goal by Anthony Nuzzolilo, but it was only a brief respite. The Whalers put home three more to finalize the 11-1 drubbing.

Four goals for Castracani led the game in scoring. His four-point performance backed up by a three-point showing from Conroy (2G, 1A).

Josh Girard started and Daniel Trabucco came on in relief as the goaltending battery combined for the victory from the Whaler net.
