FOXBORO – A quiet first turned into a raucous second as NorthStar Elite (Silver) and the Quebec Prospects faced off on Thursday at the Foxboro Sports Center. In the end, NorthStar defeated Quebec 6-3 for the 2008 Elite division win at the 2024 Chowder Cup.
Defense dominated the first behind the goaltending of NorthStar starter Jacoby Weiner and Quebec counterpart Antonin Robert. Only once in the frame did either goaltender blink and yield a score, that going to NorthStar’s Braden Hundertmark.
The second was an opposite tale as both offenses awoke to score eight of the game’s nine goals. The two sides trading blows back-and-forth leaving NorthStar with a 6-3 victory when the dust settled.
For the victors, Luca Cannata led the way, totaling three goals and an assist for a game-high four points. Hundertmark (1G, 1A), Xavier Lieb (1G, 1A) and Liam Donnelly (2A) also each had multiple points for NorthStar.
Nathan Dupuis (2G) and Jacob Hamel (1G, 1A) had two points apiece to lead the Quebec effort.
