Second half explosion give Whalers win.

FOXBORO – The Boston Jr. Whalers posted a comfortable victory in their 2022 Jr. Chowder Cup opener on Thursday at the Foxboro Sports Center. They defeated the Long Island Fire 5-2 in ’07 division play.

It was an even, low-scoring affair in the first, both sides scoring once in the frame. Once the scoreboard ticked over to the second, however, it became an offensive affair.

The combined goal total nearly tripled in the second half. The Fire matched their one goal from the first, this one a Nicholas Johnson score. The Whalers, however, sprung for four in the frame to run away with their 5-1 victory.

Keagen Lindsay led the Whalers offense in the contest, credited with a three goals performance. Hayden Klose backed their teammate up with a pair of assists.

Netminder Kyle Jones was credited with the win for Boston.
